No. And you can’t pick up BOS open time either. I’d like to see this fixed in the JCBA.

Lineholder speaking (myself), why can’t you pick up?? Our reserves aren’t allowed to pick up…

This TA is so horrible I’m not even going to vote NO…I’m just simply not going to vote at all.

Y’all should do the same…don’t even give them your time of day…just simply don’t vote!

I guess I am not understanding the “drop to zero thing.” There isn’t any airline that that would just allow ALL of its pilots to “drop to zero.” Otherwise, potentially no aircraft might be flown.

So what are the restrictions? I feel the fly is in the ointment there, so to speak.

That is a powerful QOL provision that allows a cremember, and not just a select few to literally change their entire schedule, take the entire month off or set themselves up for 200% pay.

Backing up, you guys are not allowed to base swap trips??

Meaning NY to BOS, or Orlando to Long Beach….

Reserves cannot drop days. A typical base might have around 20 reserves a day with a “min required” number of 10. That means that, as long as there are 10 or fewer trips in open time on that day, it will be green and authorized for drops. If there’s more than 10 open time trips, then there aren’t enough leftover reserves and it’s red - can’t drop or swap out of that day. It goes green again if someone picks up a trip. The month must start 75% green and every day must have the same “min required” number. After that, as lineholders make trip adds, drops, and swaps, the grid fluctuates substantially day to day. So no, not everyone drops to zero, but not everyone wants to. But almost everyone has a *ton* of flexibility on their schedules.

And since sometimes even people with “good” trips want to drop certain days, there’s usually some decent stuff in open time. Then people pick it up and those days go green allowing for another person to drop. Etc etc etc

They don’t allow out of base pickups/swaps. The only way to pick up out of base is when there is a trip in “global open time”, which there never is.

Wow…. I hope y’all educate yourselves on our work rules before the JCBA. We need NOT give anything up!

Then that’s even more reason you need to vote no. Imagine if it passed by one vote and you could’ve been the deciding factor.

The “drop to zero” won’t work at JetBlue unless they change the whole red/green thing. First off, we have a half dozen reserve grids. LC2, LC3, LC4, short call, Standard, etc… I don’t even know what they all are, but if a specific day is green on one grid, but it’s red on another grid, then no swaps for you.

Also, it seems like most days are black or red after just the first couple guys get run in each month’s first round drop/add.

Every drop/add window is tabulated and summarized in an email to every pilot… and every round you can see that most requests are denied for “insufficient reserve coverage” - and this is even though the senior few can only drop to 70. Let the senior few drop to zero, and the majority of the pilot group will get nothing.

I would love to have “drop to zero”- but unless JetBlue changes a bunch of other stuff to make the grid system a copy of Spirit’s, then it will only be a boon for the top couple percent of the pilot group.
