Default How does displacement work?

I heard if you get assigned the 190 or 220 and are looking to transition into the 320, there's a way to transition before that one year lock, is that right?

Not likely. The only way a displacement would work in under a year is if your timing is juuust right. You're on OE just before the displacement bid comes out and get an early transition class. But even then you're probably looking at 9 months at the earliest. Otherwise, you have to wait for the system bid and waiting till your seniority can hold 320.

All locks are released during a displacement bid, so if you do a voluntary displacement you could get displaced before others and get awarded something inside the year. Unfortunately for the timing of the retirement of the E190, the next displacement bid will probably retire the aircraft. It is unclear if people senior to you will try to hang onto the plane until the bitter end. If they do, you could concievably get off the aircraft inside a your year seatlock. It all depends on the timing of the bid.
