LAX base

With a draw down in LAX service has there been any mention of the future of the LAX pilot base?

Nothing from the company or union regarding LAX future, but it isnt looking great. We will maintain LAX-SLC/SJD which will allow the company to build some 1day pairings to satisfy trip mix requirements, so the base may stay open if those routes survive.

Longer term I think a merger with AS is likely, but probably several years after they digest the HA merger (assuming that goes through). In the crazy event that AS/HA falls apart like NK/B6 did then maybe we merge with AS in another year or two.

SLC is gone. Only SJD left

You’re right. SLC from MCO was cut not LAX.

Some sort of base has to exist to have crews positioned out there for recovery. Now the base will be the same size as Newark.

it is very costly for them to close any base. I was told that when Newark departures were cut in half back in 2022 (just months before the first bid month) they wanted to close it but that LGB closing LAX opening cost them way to much money with all the training events that were spawned. EWR is senior and LAX is too so I think so that financial deterrent should keep it open for a while.
However this once and for all should confirm what should have been obvious for like 2 years that there is not much future for in da West coast for junior JetBlue pilots or prospective JetBlue pilots...........I know Hawaii right. As stated in other threads, I always thought they were lying about that one.

I have an email from the union stating ' block hours will remain the same'.

We'll see.

Looks like we’ll be starting LAX-Tehran 😂

All joking aside, the next network change email states changes regarding winter network, so something like pulling planes from seasonal Europe destinations and adding Hawaii might be a possibility. I know I posted my doubts in the other thread, but if block hours will remain flat then they need something like LAX-Hawaii and/or transcons.

Hawaii with onward connection to Guam. Then New Zealand. Dream big.
