Mint as OAL
Hi all,
I was wondering if you list as jumpseater and there’s open mint seats if they would give you mint or if you could pay something to sit in mint thanks all |

Jumpseat often gets even more space if available, but not Mint. If you are JetBlue, you can list for Mint though.

It's embarrasing honestly. When I commuted I used to always get pulled up to first class and given a quick meal. The early flights were great, and AA and UA always took care of me. Many times I just wanted to sleep and I'd wake up with a tray full of food and some fresh fruit in front of me.
Meanwhile here we have FAs who will report you if you try and get an upgrade or put someone into a mint seat. |
Our policy is embarrassing. Other airlines are happy to put us in first class, even in uniform (*gasp). We're lucky OAL don't reciprocate and refuse to allow us in first.

At most airlines the crew has discretion to upgrade OAL jump seaters and standby to first class. Jetblue has forbidden us from doing that and won't even allow it's own employees in Mint while in uniform. It's one of the things that makes our culture so "unique".

This has always been said, but show me where I as the Captain can't put a jumpseater in a business class seat? I don't care what the FA rules are, show me the verbiage. Unless I missed something, there hasn't been any.

There isn't any. The question is do you want to deal with the chief pilot/HR fallout of that action afterwards when the FAs report it?

I have done this before. The gate cannot assign them a mint seat per their AOM, the FA's can't per their IFM. I have been told by the gate, that whatever happens after the door is closed, is not their problem. |

Commuting on Spirit or Frontier, the F/As always offer me a free Coke. Sounds like JetBlue isn't that classy.
