Lest we marginalize ourselves into a pack of whiners, I wanted to reiterate that I feel very fortunate to have a job flying brand new airplanes for a company with a solid balance sheet and a good business plan.

Despite the grievances, I think we have a very bright future as a company.

But I will not allow the old: "you're lucky to have a job" line cloud my judgement. When the VP's at this company were offered positions by the principles - you can be sure that nobody used the "you're lucky to have a job" line. In fact, I'm sure there were attorneys involved and I'm sure that they were able to hammer out some very lucrative packages. I would never begrudge someone that right. As well, I think that we as pilots, must be equally cognizant of the buying power of jetBlue. Anyone who pours blue cool-aide over their head and says "I'm yours, pay me whatever you want" probably would disagree with me.

We can all appreciate our company as a whole and our administrators for their business acumen but business is business, and as long as a pilot aproaches things thoughtfully and respectfully, he needn't be concerned about the lemmings who are shocked by his insolence.

Let's be proud of our company but let's also be proud of our profession.

I did not come to Jetblue for a secure job. I took a risk and CHOSE to come here for the promise of opportunity. Now, those promises have evaporated from management along with millions of dollars of cashed in equities.

JB is a great job! It still is a small start-up. Can you show me where SWA was after 5 years? Maybe I'm wrong but I would guess SWA was nowhere nearer Legacy pay when they were 5 years old. I did come to JB for a secure job. I watched my dream job at DAL disappear after a 20 year military career. It's not a perfect company but I do hear people willing to listen. I don't know when you were hired but if it was within 2 years of 911 you would be on the street right now instead of flying so I guess your "risk" payed off. We have problems like any large company does and IMHO we seem to be working through them.

JetBlue IS a great job but MindTrick is right. We don't have the security of a career. That's what this forum is all about.

FYI:

You don't actually get 60% of you pay during a disability. If you are a captain that is. There is a cap of $6500.00 per month. Sure would have been nice to know!

I don't remember reading about a $6500 cap in the pilot contract.

The 6500 (actually 1500 a week for 26 weeks) is tax free. Also you wont be doing deductions for your 401K and the CSPP so it is pretty much like the take home pay on an 80 hour line. It took me 5 minutes to look up in the BlueBenefits guide, which has been in plain view for about 5 years. Where is the bull?

Why is there a cap at all? Can you find the one that shows the profit sharing cap of $200,000.00. If you make anything over 200k it is not eligible.

The Bull is that the BlueBenefits guide, the scheduling guide, etc, etc. are changed on a regular basis without our input!
