Default Adventures in Health Care

It would be interesting to compile some data about who actually uses our co-insurance program.
For instance, how many pilots have opted out for VA benefits or for their spouses coverage.
Then find out how this percentage compares to the rest of the work groups at jetBlue.
I've opted out. Hands down, it's the worst insurance I've ever had. Not just the coverage or the premiums but the endless phone calls and arguments with our administrator UHC.
I think that when the untreated illnesses become too much and the collections agencies begin to ruin enough credit scores, we'll see a little health care revolt.
The pilots, won't lead on this though. We're all jumpin off this wagon if we can, and selfishly, some of us think we'll get it back in profit sharing.

don't forget to take advantage of our newest benefit
drum roll please...............................
HEALTH SAVINGS ACCOUNTS!!
now we can pay for our own health care tax free!!
I took my kid to the doctor the other day for a well-child visit and the nurse asks me why UHC hasn't paid for any of the vacinations or visits from last year. I said, I didn't know.
so she asks if I can write her a check for $100 before my kid gets the check up.
now I get to chase down the $100.
I can't wait to spend the afternoon on the telephone trying to straighten out something that should have been cut&dried

I'm getting out of JetBlue's medical coverage next month and going with my wife's company.

Blueside,
My family has some very specific health care needs so I was very clear when I asked D at the interview about insurance.
I was told on two occasions that our insurance was weak because we were a new company but that it would improve.
It did not.
I was also one of the pilots who attended an indoc which included the "Southwest parallel" comments.
I guess the world's IS a different place now but it's hard not to take a peek at Southwest every now and then to see just what is possible.
