why no LGB-ORD (or Mid Way)

Are there any plans for JetBlue going to Chicago? Figured the route would do well for the company.

How about BOS-CHS-BOS? Would love to see it!

They can't get gates at ORD. Simple as that. Plus with UAL not paying millions in gate and landing fees (Ch 11) the costs to get a gate have gone way high in order to recoup the losses. Midway has been mentioned but might not meet the leaderships stratagy. They have mentioned some other nearby airports though that look favorable.

You're kidding, right??? (If not, I assume it's the corollary to 'JetBlue gets free airplanes'.) ;)

FWIW, JetBlue did have a deal for gates at ORD with the City of Chicago back in 2003 but then UA decided that they would, in fact, pay all the fees and back rents rather than let anybody else have gates in Terminal One. After the deal went south, David N. even publicly mentioned that he felt JB was used as a pawn by the city in their negotaitions and we would not be in ORD anytime soon.

That's news to me. I've looked and haven't found anywhere that UA has paid up yet. All articles are to the contrary. As for gates at ORD, that was before my time but DN told our class the gates were crapy and expensive.

Well OK, so you missed the news. Not surprising since it happened a few years ago and was not really news to anybody except UA, JB, and Chicago bondholders. FWIW, the gates ORD offered JB were the some of the BEST ones UA had, in the B concourse in Terminal One. If you have ever been to ORD, UA probably has the best terminal and the 'B' gates are the ones directly behind the ticket counter. This was not a coincidence: Chicago wanted UA to pony up.

LGB-ORD/MDW? How about DBQ-MSN. Yep there's a long haul moneymaker for you!

Hawaiia

What about LGB-HNL. Seriously B6 would fit the role perfectly (i think the 320 can make the flight)

You "THINK" a 320 will make it to HNL? OK - you fly it and call me from the Ala Moana Hotel. "IF" you make it. Before you go, remember that dispatch will make you light-load the fuel. "It costs money to carry extra fuel boys and HNL is a thin market- so SLOW DOWN, you dont need to get there on time"

I guess not. I dont fly the 320 so i dont know the performance and range on it. It does JFK-LGB so i figured maybe it could make NHL.

AND with winds aloft they been making a lot of unscheduled fuel stops lately. Plus - is the 320 ETOPS? Hell if I know -

The Navy flew DC-9s to Hawaii, but even with an extra fuel tank there was a one-hour "can't lose an engine" period halfway across.

Aloha does west coast to Hawaii in the 737

Yea, but i think the -700 has the greatest range out of all 737NG. I was on the airbus website lastnight, and they claim 319 can make New York-Paris non stop. I wonder if that includes full payload or close to.
