Default LR- No altitude restrictions?

I was checking out our JFK-LHR flights online and noticed they were flying >FL350. So no "break in period" MEL for those aircraft? Or have we swapped engines so that they have higher time engines off of some other NEOs?

Well as long as they are not being planned above 340 and subsequently accepted a higher altitude as required for operational purposes (ie accept higher or be rerouted to suboptimal track and or unacceptable lower level) then that fulfills the MEL.

That being said we should be babying those engines, we don’t want a shutdown on an etops segment in our first few months of certification. If they were crafty they would indeed hang broken-in engines on those LRs as you alluded to hedge our bets!

Excuse my ignorance, but is there some sort of restriction on these engines?

Yes, flights are planned at or below FL 340 till the engines have 1500hrs. They are allowed to go above for operational necessity.

The London flights don’t have the MEL and have been planned higher making me think they have swapped the original engines.
