Likewise...You made the statement "...trying to explain why I violated SOP..." and to that end my only intention is to clarify that the FCOM VOL 1, Normal Procedures, Expanded states "CEO: Engines may be shut down upon gate arrival regardless of 3-minute cool down period." If I'm not mistaken that is an approved procedure and therefore SOP, however I'm most certainly open to correction on that stated SOP.

Touché, Salesman! Hadn’t seen that new change to the manual, thanks for the correction! I have always strived to accomplish the 3 minutes, and I shall continue, but it’s nice to know I cannot be reprimanded for not doing so.

So many contradictions in our manuals...

Wasn’t sure where you were pulling the time from. Especially since you were saying the FCOM was the Bible. Haha. No hard feeling just don’t have the iPad with me to pull it up.

No worries, the good book's teachings can undoubtedly be left open to various interpretations at times.

Ain’t THAT the truth? Just be sure you don’t engage the AP if you are the PF. (Unless you read the OTHER part of the FCOM, that is. Then it is OK.)

Does it really say it both ways in there now?

Not surprised.

That would be a deciding factor in if it must be followed.

Example: Method 2 for Airbus guys states, the PF should put in the points Associated with M2. Since it says “should” you don’t have to do it. It’s only a recommendation.
Should isn't a "recommendation" in FAA world. Should essentially means that item is required unless you have a good reason not to. It gives a little flexibility, but not much.

"Must" provides no flexibility, unless exercising emergency authority.

In other words, if you do something contrary to a "should," you might need to be able to explain your good reasoning why you didn't follow the guidance. It isn't the case that you can just say, "Oh, that's only a recommendation."

Default Application

Hey does anyone know how LORs are done? Is it ONLY via attachment in the application? Or is there a way to send one internally? Asking for a friend (ok actually me) who sent his app in and now has some LORs he wants to add..
