If you’re still in phase 2, then your background check is not complete. Regardless, it doesn’t go in perfect order. 3 years ago when I was hired, people were not given classes in the exact order they interviewed and started background checks etc. Also, they fill classes a certain way; they try for a mix of 121, 135, military etc.

I thought you said you haven’t heard anything from your interview. If background checks are being done in less then a week I’d be shocked but good for those guys for getting a classdate within a week of interviewing.

They’ve had some shockingly fast turn around times from app to video screen to interview to class. But that has caused some issues. I know of some guys (one a buddy of mine) who made it through training and was awaiting IOE and still had to wait to fly and redo PRIA or background check forms 3 or 4 times because there were issues (none with him, but with the paperwork and our third party (hire right or whoever they are using now). And he was on training pay until that last round of paperwork cleared, at which point he’d get back pay to his LOE. He said he wasn’t the only one. So, it sounds like they have been trying to accelerate it, but got bit in the process.

Current B6 guy here……
while it’s been forever since I was in phase II, I would highly encourage everyone to ask our background checker of the day if they need anything. Being politely proactive is certainly the way to go IMHO.

Supposedly attrition at JetBlue has really picked up. Talked to some hiring folks and they said that the number of JetBlue pilots interviewing and leaving for the legacy airlines is really high right now.
Have you been noticing this?

Yep. Lost 87 this year. 6 deaths, 2 terminations, 26 retirements is the last I saw, with the rest leaving for greener pastures. I think 7 or so more retirements this year, probably another 15-20 to legacies if I had to wager a guess. In 2014 we lost 93, 2016 was 100 or so, then between 70 to 92 a year in 2017/18/19/20. But the difference is nobody was really hiring much the first 6 months of this year. So the bulk of guys leaving is July onward. It’s mostly 0-3 year guys. I’m guessing we can expect to lose 10-15 maybe 20 a month for the foreseeable future, at least at the front side of this current wave at the big 3.
