You're not alone, I came on here to say the same thing. I hope it's not TBNT... Any idea if we'll hear something either way?

trying to help a friend who is looking at CJO’s from both Spirit and Jetblue. Money isn’t his major concern, he’s more interested in getting based at home asap. He has a young family and lives there. He’s trying to figure out which will let him get home soonest and upgrade at home soonest.

any input appreciated.
In short, it will take a very long time. There were some lucky ones getting base trades on the 190, but those are outliers. They are shrinking and eventually closing the 190 base here. The Bus is very senior. Captain plug is something like 16 years. FO has to be at least 4-6….maybe more. I’d have to look it up. Don’t come here for an MCO base unless you get an instructor position. I’m just giving you a brief answer. Someone can chime in with more accurate times.

Anybody have info on the instructor job? Pay rate, min guarantee, days off etc? How long do you have to instruct before going to the line? Is it required that you go fly the line after a set amount of time or can you just remain a sim instructor until you can hold the base you want on the line. Also, are instructors line qualified and able to pick up trips?

Instructors are hire with a seniority number now. They have 2 fly days a month, 14 days off. I’m not sure the credit for full time. Adjunct instructors get 90 hours a month, with 14 days off.

$90,000 (currently) for the first 2 yrs. Overtime pays $750 per event. On the 25th month, you get flight pay, so a big jump in pay. Days off is 12-13 depending on the month, plus PTO days. You can choose to fly the line full time after 2 yrs, but once out of the training department, it can be difficult to get back in. You can pick up flying on days off, if available. Even though instructors are qualified in both seats, you will only fly the aircraft as an FO until you upgrade.

at what point in the process do we bid for and receive assignments for airplane and base? Are there any resources available to us to help us make the decision on which airplane to bid for? Will I get access to the bid packets closer to my class date?

You’ll get the official bid sheet at the mixer night (night before orientation). You’ll bid at that time and you’ll find out what aircraft/base about 2 days later. You’ll get no resources to help you make a decision.

If you didn’t already know:
320: JFK, JFK-SQ, EWR, BOS, BOS-SQ, LAX, FLL, MCO
190: JFK, BOS, MCO
220: BOS

new hires have been getting JFK, BOS, LAX, and the rare JFK-SQ

Thanks man, appreciate that. Guess I'll just roll the dice and see what I get and switch planes in a year if I don't like it haha

now you’re thinking like a B6 pilot! Welcome to the blue! You’ll like it here. It’s not as bad as APC makes it out to be.

fully agree with this statement don't let the 8-10 same people on here discourage you. It's a great place to show up to work, yes the operation (like the rest of the industry) is poorly run but that's a small part of the picture.. The crews are great..
