The lanyard is important and I support everyone wearing it but even some of the union die hards are still releasing the brake early to get the on time. Despite multiple requests from the union to stop doing this. If we can't even be unified on following company SOP, and what the union has asked of us, how can we expect anything to change?
By releasing that brake, yes you start to get paid. But you also give that on time to the company when it should not have happened. They can continue to drive down turn times and be supported by the pilots because we keep doing it. When they cite the infinitesimally small number of delays casued by late pilots, they neglect the large number of delays prevented by releasing the brake early.
Anyway, that's my .02 for wahtever its worth.

From what I've heard the new lanyards will be shipped out to each member around mid-October.
As far as gate agents giving us crap about being "late", remember they are part of the bonus incentive program they implemented earlier this year, another program mgmt didn't include Pilots in.

We have some people here that are going beyond what they should to "help the on time" and it's hiding the true problem of our operations. The brake dropping, cleaning, early boarding, "comedy" show in front passengers before we push, etc. etc. etc.
It's funny, I use to laugh about how stiff Delta pilots were but now I'm realizing, they get it (mostly)!
Anyways rant over, let's push for a contract!
