International lift, historically, requires a TON of regional feed. We're just not there yet. Thats the bread and butter of the whipsaw that is DAL/UAL/AAL...

Not only do we need to add a few of the major "fly over cities" (STL, MSP, OKC, etc) but we need to do better than 1 or 2 red eye transcons. If Delta/UAL/AA fly 3-5 times a day with options starting at 8am, why would people fly us transcon if we only offer a 8pm or 10pm option? Our free tv and slightly cheaper fares only go so far when it comes to our customer's schedules, especially if we are going after the business travel market now.

Absolutely! These people making the decisions are morons! They should listen to you!

Seems to me, if someone is doing business they would like the 8 or 10 pm flights, but I'm a Pilot, not a businessman who might want to get home to the family...what do I know.

So tri, when are you going to run JetBlue?

I don't remember calling them morons. All I implied was perhaps before we decide to launch trans atlantic service we should beef up our domestic operations. Moronic? Ok. What do I know. You know best.

As soon as they make me an acceptable offer.

What's your suggestion? Let's get widebodies and fly to Paris and Rome with a weak domestic operation? Isn't that exactly what happened to Pan Am?

Sure, businessmen or vacationers might want a late night flight home and that's why things such as red eyes exist. But are you going to want to fly out at 8pm, arrive at 3 or 4 am body time to start a vacation or get up a few hours later for a meeting? No, a nice morning or afternoon flight would sure be nice. And unfortunately in that case, most customers go elsewhere for a better schedule.

LOL, in 2014... spread over 3 years...

Funny thing was, they thought that 20%(19.9) over 3 years would buy them another stretch of the DR... I think they were disappointed. 20% doesn't come close to the discount that jetblue pilots work for currently.

Flew a leg with management recently. You know the one leg in a blue moon they buy from some CA - but still leave a late round dangling out there so the line holder can't bug out early? Two hours of touting the "greatness" and perceived benefits of Gateway 7. Of course, he also said we're going to be getting - hang on to your drinks and blue chips - UAL rates for the bus. I'm not making this up. Really...
