Actually lately every time I had to make that call someone answered pretty quickly, I guess they hired a bunch…..problem is they must have hired them and immediately thrown them in front of a phone and said “just answer this when it rings.” None of them know what to do, one I was getting a hotel situation sorted out and she had no idea who API was when i mentioned it.

Captains (and FOs) are required to know and do MANY things... The MOT desk has ONE purpose, ONE thing to get right! Just ONE!

My last 3 MOTs have been incorrect. They’re just going with when the Captain times out, not looking at first pilot to time-out.

I had one that told me we were on rest even though we were still sitting around the airport with no hotel and that we only needed 8 hours but they gave us 10 because they were being nice

I’m on my third leg and second Captain; he just came in on VDA - two hours ago he was eating dinner on his day off.

We push and the MOT comes up “MOT 7 hours from now due to Captain Table B limits”

No, that gives me a 18 hour day. Your MOT math’s wrong.

Good point and worth everyone looking out for. The acars message while sometimes helpful can be a trap if the FO is more constrained time wise. And seems like FO pairings are having to be chopped up a lot more as staffing is way worse on that side (at least 320).
