The fastest way to MCO is to become an instructor. After that it's a crap shoot, but Mco is arguably the most senior base tied or second only to LGB.
Behind becoming an instructor the 190 is likely the fastest way in. Conservatively I'd plan a year or three. Mco on the 320 probably 2-4 years unless we decide to finally grow the base. But they've been gonna grow Mco for at least 9 years. We've literally gone years with 0 (zero) movement in MCO. Ymmv. Believe me there's a lot of us hoping you get Mco fast...

1. The pilots in MCO love to get their trips bought.
2. The instructors don't get paid extra for flying those trips. It's included in their work days.
3. Some instructors fly trips in JFK/BOS, and many turns in MCO are actually JFK/BOS pairings.
4. Instructors cannot pick up straight open time. The only way instructors get paid captain pay is to fly RSA or VDA.
The instructor gig is completely different than being a line pilot. Both have their advantages/disadvantages.

You guys are the biggest RSA VDA "helpers" in the entire system.
You should not be allowed do those. If you want to be an instructor stay in the school house and pick up overtime in there. MCO would probably have to grow by 10% if instructors weren't able to pick up VDA and RSA.
Now don't get me wrong I'm a huge proponent of having line pilots as instructors but it needs to be something like 2 months in the school house and 1 month back on the line in the base and seat you actually hold.

IIRC correctly the plan was to pay 90 hours/month plus hotel and per diem for non-MCO based guys, who would teach during the slow months and fly their AWARDED BASE AND SEAT (emphasis mine) during busier months.
After the interviews and conditional offers, there was suddenly a month of "crickets" from JBU leadership, then a quiet notification that the new management had decided to drastically scale back the adjunct program in favor of hiring NSL instructors off the street.

Who knows what the CBA will have for the instructors. I'm a fan of 2 months instructing, one month flying the line. Some like that, some don't.
Like I said, the reason instructors do RSA/VDA is that's the only way to get paid captain pay, if they are captains.

Or they could go fly their actual seniority if they want captain pay.
Thus the original comment(and I can't believe I'm agreeing with hyperboy) about the circumvention of seniority.
They made a choice to be In the school house and take that "paper bid upgrade". So either stay in the school house with no VDA,RSA or be a senior FO in MCO or go be a junior CA were you can hold it, but being able to circumvent seniority is what people have a problem with!
