Entitlement comes from those who haven't earned anything. We've worked hard. Put in time. Sucked it up. Done the hard things. We are entitled to better.

Jesus guys my comment got taken way out of context. As I said, we are paid less than our peers and that needs to change. I spent $100,000 and made many personal / family sacrifices to get here just like many of you have.

My point was, we still make more money than a lot of people in the general population. And to that effect, we should be able to afford a $15 meal and have our hotel have better locations and quality, rather than an emphasis on locations where you can get a bunch of cheap garbage junk food which some people seem to prefer.

So let me get this straight. JB's overall compensation package is like 40% below industry standard and there is a decently large subset of the pilot group that is content with the way things are going?

Things aren't perfect at SWA - but damn. Guys like that would get a blanket party from where I'm from.

I don't know what it is about BOS. It is like a cult up there.

Wow. I've got no words. Pathetic. So pathetic.

Just read the past two pages to understand why so many guys want to get the **** out of this place. If you're not depressed and angered by your paycheck, you will be by fellow pilots who rationalize all this BS.
On the money.

To all the people *****ing about people picking up open time. Take note of what is happening at Spirit, their union is being sued for an illegal job action. Because apparently you are required to go to work and pick up opentime in this so called free country. They will look at these forums if $hit hits the fan.

So that's it? The company is suing the pilots because they're not picking up enough open time? That's your understanding of things?

That's what it sounds like. Yes. "Illegal job action."

In similar situations at other companies, the complaint was not about any pilot's individual choice, but about the pressuring of other pilots not to pick up time. Some unwise internet postings and e-mails were used as evidence. There may be a lesson here....

The issue at hand isn't individual pilots deciding on their own not to fly.

The issue is when the union or group aggressively employs tactics to prevent others from doing things that are permitted in the contract. In this case setting up a website that pressures/intimidates pilots into not picking up open time.

Cool. So we don't do that. I have a first amendment right to advocate against helping the company while they violate status quo left and right.

No one is being intimidated just being told by a few of us on here that helping staff the airline isn't helping us in negotiations. Its the truth. Do with that truth what you will. Sounds like Spirit has some pilots who get it.
