As far as a timeline to implementation of work rules that would effect staffing, none of that information has been released from the negotiating committee. Everything is negotiable and it's not our problem if the company can't fly the full schedule because of inadequate staffing. They can try to plan ahead and hire more guys now. Or they can wait and see what they'll need. If you've experienced an IROP here you know how they'll handle that choice.
Ha! You got that right. And for those that think the company is dropping the ball by not hiring now for CBA staffing, maybe they should finally consider the fact that the company has no intention of giving us a CBA anytime soon.

Just my opinion, we all have one.

I wouldn't hire a second earlier than I had to, if I were in charge of staffing. The CBA will take at least 6 months to implement, and maybe a year for some sections. That's plenty of time to staff to the appropriate level. Besides, they don't know what the staffing need truly is until the language is written AND implemented. So there will be tweaking even after implementation. At my last company it took months for them to find the right level after the CBA.

The "CBA will take at least 6 months to implement". Don't forget the 12-24 months to get a CBA. So, you are correct, definitely no need to hire right now.

Even if the TA were here today it would be January before the effective date most likely, then 6 months of implementation. I bet we have an agreement in principle by January, and a TA to vote on by March/ April for a June effective date. Then 6 months to implement the work rules.

You think we will get an AIP/TA in 3 more mediated negotiating sessions?

It's not outside the realm of possibility. But I agree it's aggressive. We are down to the stuff that can be settled quickly with a mediator. My point was that even with an aggressive negotiating timeline, we are 15 months from full implementation.

What is the incentive for the company to start paying millions more right now? They are filling classes and making bank.

Because they have to eventually settle on a plan for the future of this airline. I don't think they can come up with one without knowing the details of the CBA. Wall Street will begin to lose patience.

I honestly think that the plan all along was to drag this out until another downturn in the economy comes along and cry that there are difficult times ahead. Blah blah blah. Hope I'm wrong but it's a lot of money on the table.

Think of all those 10 hour 3 days that will have to pay 15+ hours now. 😂
