Only the 320 has a base in FLL. The 190 does have a base in MCO as well, but it's a very small base and is pretty senior. Used to take a while to get there, but 3686/3800 just got it on this last bid.

The vacancies remaining after this bid:
320FLL: 13
320JFK: 109
190BOS: 91
190JFK: 28

Those are the vacancies up for grabs for new hires. How they are allocated for each class I'm not sure. On day 1 when new hires pick based on their seniority order (age), that is their base/equipment until they change it in a soon to be annual system bid.

For people already on property who just bid it (say a guy who just finished training whose base is JFK), this effective date is August 31st, so they could have to stay in JFK until then, or their base transfer date could be sooner. For example, a guy who got awarded FLL last bid (3 months ago) will actually move bases in June. So there was a bit of delay from bidding it, being awarded it, and actually going there. With an annual standing bid instead of quarterly system bid (that's what the CBA says is happening as of this August...), it could potentially take longer to be able to bid it, get awarded it, and have a base transfer date that gets you there. Guess we will see how that plays out. And of course if you get the 190 in training, you have to wait until the 1 year equipment lock will be up (by the effective date of the bid), then you can bid for 320FLL.

So if you are wondering when you can hold FLL as a new hire here? 0-18 months is about as accurate as I can predict.

Thanks so much. Great information!

Good luck. Not sure if you noticed by I edited to add "So if you are wondering when you can hold FLL as a new hire here? 0-18 months is about as accurate as I can predict" which seems to be the original question, which I didn't directly answer.

Does anyone know how this annual system bid is gonna work or why we switched from a quarterly bid? Are we going to be able to bid for certain training dates in 2020 with an annual bid?

I think it’s going to be a “figure it out as you go” type of situation from both the company and the Union.

Yes, you will be able to bid specific training dates.

With as little info as there is about it in the CBA, I'm surprised at how little it has been discussed by the union and the pilot group. I haven't heard much about it in roadshows, any of the forums, union emails, or company emails. Seems like it could end up being very screwy for pilots if they have to wait until the next August to change their base/equipment if something in their life changes or the they decide they don't like it there anymore, then they could have to wait until the end of the following calendar year for it to take effect.

I predict it will be a cluster. I don't know why the union agreed to this change. I just don't see any benefit for the pilot group or the company.

Tons of good stuff in there. This makes them more accountable for staffing IMHO.

Use your seniority to bid what and when you want to go.

Any supplemental bid you keep original vacation (bidding strategy). I am betting on a supplemental.....

It makes them show a vision moving forward. At least a year. You get to see that picture for planning purposes. The supplemental bids and vacations held (from August vacation) could create more vacations than planned.

Remember no equipment locks for:

New base plus 6 months
New aircraft plus 6 months
First upgrade.

You got that right! I expect a few supplemental bids the first year because the company has zero clue how to forecast staffing for an annual bid. The August annual bid is going to be very interesting.

I did not know this one. Where is it in the CBA?
