Why are people answering a 4 month old thread? The OP isn't trying to get a jumpseat issue fixed anymore.

So? Others were giving advice to people that may want to jumpseat on JB. You can help others besides the OP, right?

I didn't see it was 4 months old until you mentioned it

The easiest thing to do if it's last minute and you can't list for the flight on myIDTravel - list for the next one (even if it's tomorrow) and tell them you made the earlier flight and see if they'll transfer you. I've seen them turn people away because they're not listed, and they'll tell you to list. Buy myIDTravel won't let you if it's too close to departure time.

This is 100% wrong. They can list you at the gate up to 10 min prior. Agents turning people away is not correct. If this is happening it needs to get turned into the jumpseat committees so it can be addressed. Getting denied and just complaining here won't fix the problems if ALPA isn't made aware of it.

All Captains all need to preflight their jumpseat so pilots are not left at the gate by any airline.

I never said they can't list you. This way is easier for people to get on. Sorry if you don't agree with it, but the reality is some people won't do it. It's not right, granted, but you can miss your commute because you wanted to argue with a gate agent and not list for a later flight, or you can do just that and increase your chances of the gate agent working with you. Complain to your jumpseat committee, sure, but you could miss your commute in the mean time. Choice is yours.

I agree if you have time you should list. But if you don't have time and bust your commute it needs to get documented so it can corrected.

You should go resurrect more 4+ month old dead threads and help some more people out then.
