Out (censored) standing. What could possibly go wrong during this roll over from TRP. I may just not do the transfer and roll my TRP funds to and IRA.

I don't think that's an option unless you're at least 59.5yrs old. It's called an "in-service rollover."

My understanding is that Southwest Airlines also went to this company Empower, including SWAPA (pilot internal union) which manages their 401k. However SWAPA is in the process of leaving it after not being happy with it while SWA remains.

How much more could TRowe be?

$1 is all it takes.

SWA uses empower for all their retirement plans, including the company 401k and profit sharing. SWAPA manages our own pilot 401k and has a very successful program that employs some very smart people. For a very long time, SWAPA used Schwab to manage the accounts. SWAPA, for some strange reason (guessing money), decided to switch to Empower last year. The results were horrible. Guys couldn't access their accounts for weeks and weeks, things were just wrong, options that many used went away, and customer service was nonexistent. After about six weeks of that, SWAPA made a hasty exit back to Schwab where everyone was happy.
This isn't your kids' lunch account, this is your retirement account. Good customer service and investment options are a must.

Just another reason to polish up those apps and head for the door.

So is there anyway to take what you have already invested and put into an IRA or leave with TROWE? If I had known they were going to do this, I would not have rolled over from my previous employer.

No way unless you're 59.5yrs old. If anyone finds otherwise let us know.

401k is such a scam. Just another way for banks to hold on to your money while they make reckless bets to benefit themselves.
