LC with 3 days of availability?

Flew a redeye last night, brains not working well, normally I know this.
Can you get LC with 3 days of availability? I know you can't be REL on the last with with only 3 days on, but can't remember LC.

Thanks in advance,

Tex

dontcare4U 11-04-2016 11:18 AM

I believe you can, but it's very rare.

texpilot 11-04-2016 11:21 AM

Thanks DC, as of now I would with 3 days on, but if I'm not able, I'll add a 4th day to the end of the stretch.

Thanks man,
Tex

CaptCoolHand 11-04-2016 11:49 AM

If memory serves.

You'd have to start with more than three.

I think you're right. I was awarded LC on day 3 (5 day bucket), while the others that were just starting all got SC

texpilot 11-04-2016 11:55 AM

Good deal, thanks DC.
Looking through the FSM and can't find where it references it. But 1st had experience is mucho helpful.

This is the correct answer. It is possible but much like a unicorn fart. Very rare, sweet as sugar and doesn't last long. Waft it and savor every moment. :p

Now even more scarce...

E90 FO staffing is always the best in the company. Enjoy it while you can!

Papa Bear 11-18-2016 10:01 AM

Ya you never get anything like that on the BUS in JFK.

What I have found (BUS) also is that if you typically start RSV block with at least 4 days on Mondays and Tuesday you have a higher percentage of LCR LCR SCL SCL...
Some guys will say you can also score a REL on the last day like ending on Monday or Tuesday. However we all know in JFK that we only get used on our last days so once again that's a 190 thing.
In my bidding I try and group my RSV days in a group of 5, but that's just me.

Oh and don't ever use PTO in your first year for RSV days. Get that 100hrs saved up.

Had to oddest thing happen this week on RSV...

I was on my last day, day 5, haven't been used all week. 11 am RSV and the grid was red.

I went on at 11, my phone rings at 11:15 and I'm thinking crap, there are people ahead of me so I'm going to have to argue my way out of this assignment (by no means the first time I've been assigned something out of order and have had to have it fixed). The message states that they are going to Release me at 12 and please self notify....
WHAT??? So confused. So I went on crewtrac and there it was, released at noon. Not complaining, but very odd, and have never had that happen in all my years of RSV...

Same thing happened to me a few days ago. 0400 SCL and got a call around 0700. They said "you're released, have a nice day!"

Maybe we're seeing a kinder/gentler crew services?!

Xtreme87 11-20-2016 07:13 PM

Off topic a little, do you still get PRL days awarded on a RSV month where you have vacation?

Seems like ALPA is riding them hard whenever someone files a PDR about assignments being screwed up. Maybe the schedulers are finally getting "calibrated."

Mr 305 11-21-2016 01:54 PM

A little off topic, but does the Reserve grid being red have anything to do with allowing trip swaps/drops?

For example, Xmas eve was +1 in the green before 0900 today, tried to drop a RES day within 5 seconds of the 0900 FCFS start time, no dice, I guess too slow as it denied due to coverage at or below mins. After that, I couldn't drop a RES day for that day since it was no longer green, but watched it drop all the way to -4 in the red with more open time being added on that day. Couldn't find anything in the FSM that gave specific guidance. I assume if you're a line holder you can drop trips with the Grid in the red? Thanks.

Can't drop or swap trips in open time with the grid in the red.

Close. It's unwritten, but FLICA does allow "bad-day/worse-day swaps". So a day that is red may be dropped if a trip swap results in a "more red" day being covered instead...

Good info, thanks! Guess I just have bad luck. :D:D

I've been bidding 6 day RAPs, and I keep getting LCR on days 3 an 4, then SCL on 5 and 6. Frustrating for a transcon commuter. On the bright side, I got REL from day 6 last week, a welcome surprise.

What days do you usually start? Try to bid 6day blocks starting mid-week for a better chance at LCR on day 1.

Good call. If you're going to be stuck at the crashpad anyway then make sure someone else gets the LCR who might be commuting in on a first day.

Flica RSV opentime pot>submit requests>additional bid options (top right)>request SCR> select days
