A paycheck is only 'pedestrian' so long as they've been coming in regularly. When your families' expense to income ratio flip flops and you wonder where rent money is going to come from you're not so arrogant about where you can make a decent wage.

Personally, my Union pedigree precludes compromising my ethics to the detriment of other members of our profession. I'll never Scab; I'll never ride a GoJet jump seat and I'll make the case to my Captain to not let one in ours. JetBlue is a non-union shop. So was your airline at one point. Did it grate on you to have to fly with the men who hired on when it wasn't and fought to make it 'good enough' for you?

And if your paycheck means so little to you, why don't you trade yours with a newhire at your airline? Every major's payscale starts at $30 (except DL's). Why should a newhire have to endure that? Haven't they already paid thier dues as a regional pilot for years? Or risked thier life in the military? Mainline Unions approved these scales. You are the ones who value members of our profession that little.

If you want to "Stand for Something" stand for our profession. We need unity. Desperately. Stand for regional pilots - why aren't guys flying planes painted in your colors, with passengers who bought tickets from your company not on your seniority list? Stand for Unioniztion at Skywest, B6, and other non-union shops. Stand for Pilots. Not against them.
