What you could do is use LGA as your airport. If and when the company needs you to start/end a trip at JFK, you could just Uber there from home and the company would pay.

Thanks!!! Great info. LGA is easier for me to get to than JFK. Getting an Uber to JFK would be fantastic.

BINGO.

You live near LGA ( resident airport) and they might save money or have better efficiencies flying you out of JFK.

Connie Card for ( Uber, Shuttle, Subway..) ride to JFK. No parking, driving, "Family Shuttle Service" necessary.

They find a better deal out of LGA (?) No problem... drive and park, or use the "FSS".

What MORE can one ask for ?

:)

Nothing.

Works well for all concerned.

If we live in the NJ/NY area, is it possible to be assigned trips or request trips that start out of JFK? It would be deadheading hours to some airport to start a trip.

You can always bid trips that start there, but your seniority will determine if you get it or not. For the most part I’ve had good luck getting the first flight of the bid that I’ve been awarded. It’s after that that you’ll be taken off your line.

All published trips next month start in either CVG, LAX, ANC or HKG. So in this case you would not be able to bid that. However, as your first day approaches, if there’s an open flight out of JFK, you can always call Scheduling to wheel and deal. Same thing goes for WRI and others close by. I’ve done the same with really good success when those situations arose.

Are crew members given an easy way to see what flights are coming up and haven’t been crewed?

Depends how you define easy.

We have access to the system that manages our operations. It will give you ‘the big picture,’ but it is not user friendly.

Hajj flying is awesome! Never any pushing, shoving, unsanitary conditions, used diapers in the seat backs, delays, holding, confusion, documents into “The Kingdom” aaaaaand it’s a cultural eye opener! Habibis! Yella!!!
