Kalitta Air 767 fleet
#12
True but things change. ETOPS will eventually come to the 767 and more varied flying with it. Also, the mass quantities of OT flying on the 747 has slowed considerably since NOV. As the backlog of pilots in training hit the line I believe we will be back to very little available 747 OT and the two fleets pay will begin to look fairly similar, at least for those with mid range seniority or lower.

Right now even 70-80+ hrs seem a goof option. Haven't seen any OT flights in a long time. Seems like it, we have tonnes of FO on the 747 side plus more in the pipeline!
I wonder what's the plan, are they getting trained on 747 and then transferred to 777 or 767 down the road or are we getting more 747 soon. The hiring is still continuing so not sure what's the long term or short term plan is. Will have to wait and see.
Thus, always good to plan monthly budget on guarantee.

I'm looking at applying to some ACMI carriers and have been interested in applying at Kalitta. I see that both 747 FO and 767 FO positions are posted on the company website. I have a friend on the 747 that is encouraging me to apply, but advises me the 747 would be the better option. After reading posts in multiple forums it seems that the 747 side is heavily staffed now so a person could probably expect to get the 767 if hired? If a person fills out the 747 FO application will the company place you where they need you regardless of what application you filled out? I would be fine getting hired into the 767, but was curious if someone could explain what type of flying and schedules the 767 has? Any info would be appreciated? Thanks.

The flying is domestic. Expect to see all the major hubs in the states, and some stuff like Laredo and El Paso. You will be in CVG a lot

In the past they would ask your preference. Right now the training department is playing catch up on the 74 though, so all the hiring is for the 76.

In CVG a lot... do you mean doing turns only or are you there for a day or multiple days while doing a 16 day tour? What’s a typical night like... say a leg or two to CVG... sit a few hours and a leg or two out for a decent layover somewhere? Thanks for the info!

That honestly looks like a really nice line. I could definitely be happy with that... thanks for sharing!
