Default Kalitta

I've heard through the grapevine for a couple of days now that Kalitta is parking a bunch of airplanes and furloughs are imminent.

Can anyone confirm or deny.

I'll be going back to my happy place now.

It was on our union daily email that they are parking 8 planes.

Wonder if they are just parking some of their "older" airplanes? Lack of contracts and expensive inspections? (how many -400's are they getting?)

We have A/C that are reaching there life limit. Either by cycles or time. The 100's from my understanding will no longer be supported by Boeing after 12/31/2008. I also understand that to operate in the EU after this year 15% of your fleet has to been CAT IV noise compliant (the 400 is) so 9 classics 2 400's 11 into 2 gives you 18%. We are furloughing currently 14 pilots and 16 FE on the street, with more to follow, including myself.

I heard 200 furloughs from Kalitta when it is all said and done! Good luck to the crews affected by this!

at EWR there were 4 Connie 74s sitting there and one mystery secret squirrel all white one. Seemed unusual, there are typically no more than 2 sitting around.

Possibility of 149 furloughs from Kalitta. Both DHL and USPS are running out of EWR until years end. They fill one up and send it out and then move to the next one. I was there three days ago and in the morning we had four and by evening there was one.

200??? Isn't that more than half of their pilots? Did they lose a major contract or something similar? Got a couple friends over there and hope they (and everyone else) will be all right...
