Free Uber rides in Anchorage

Using the Uber app, select UberPool. Pool is an option that will delay your departure some set amount (I believe up to 2 minutes) in an attempt to match you up with another rider (car pool).
I've used UberPool twice. Once from my house to the airport and was not matched/carpooled, but still got the Pool price. A second time, from the airport to my house there was another rider.
Both times, the driver was safe/responsible and the car was a newer model and in good shape. I believe there's a way to rate your service, so bad drivers will be weeded out of the program.

HA! I hate to say it, but I'd be more nervous if I saw the cup holder void of a beer can in any motor-operated vehicle up here in Alaska! The last frontier is the wild west.

Hey,
I am not judging and this is second hand intel; They asked to be let out at a busy intersection and called a Cab. I am sure Uber has tons of good apples, but there is one bad one out there when it comes to ANC. He said it was pretty clear the guy was ruined drunk. My pal's former Military, current 121 and not some whiney pencil pusher. He's also no tattler, but he called the cops right away as the driver left.
This is the Wild West for sure (well as wild as you can get in the US) but everyone should be careful of drunks behind the wheel. What happens when he crosses into oncoming and you loose your medical after a loss of consciousness or hospital stay?
I'm not afraid of much, but drunks behind the wheel always give me the willies; they can be like hidden hand grenades. One friend of mine is dead and another barley survived but lost his medical (he'll never fly again) right before he was headed off to start for a Regional. Both were innocents hit by Drunks. (cue the Debby Downer music) OK. I'll get off my soapbox now.
