Poll - So what would you do?
Looking for more advice. So what would YOU do if you were in my shoes? I'm 33, two kids under 5, will crack 1000 total time this month, over 200 multi, over 900 PIC, over 600 dual given, an undergrad degree (ancient languages, more of an interest than a career), 10 years of management experience (5 running a flight school), a partially completed MBA, and a lot of student loans?
Should I go corporate since I probably cannot afford the regionals? Should I get a part-time job as an FBO line guy to help with networking? Most of my contacts from my management years are up in the Midwest - not where we want to be. Should I just go back to management? How about consulting? What would YOU do?

Here's my take on the flying thing. If you have a job offer, take it. There's plenty on the streets that will get it if you don't.
Honestly, unless you "know" someone, you probably aren't going to get a nice cush corporate job that'll cover the bills. Another 200hrs you will meet the mins for 135 IFR, so honestly I'd look into that. 135 flying might not be the most desireable, but it builds time and great experience. Some don't pay that bad either.
As far as consulting etc... If you can keep flying(in any facet of flying), and do something on the side to supplement, I'd say this would be the way to go until you can build some competitive times to get a better flying job.

Is your SO working also? Unfortunately you might have to be a little more flexible with relocating with the way the market is right now. If not you can continue doing what you've been doing until things pick up again. If going back to management, fly and find time to network that's probably the safest route if you can wait for that right flying job your looking for.

I love the great lakes, four seasons, etc. However, I don't want my kids to have to move as much as I did. Most of our family and friends are between North Carolina, Florida, and Georgia. I'm not against moving back to the midwest; I just want my kids to have what I didn't have as a kid - easy access to grandparents and long-time friends.
