Default Hiring hold

I just spoke with a hiring manager and was told that all hiring has been placed on hold. He did not seem to know when it will resume, but was leaning towards "sometime after Sep 30th". The job announcements are still active for ASI positions, so it might not be long(hopefully).

I was told July Indoc was last one this fiscal. Should start again pretty quick next fiscal.

I applied in 2016 and interviewed in March 2017. Waiting for the process to continue forward.

Called Aviation Careers Services in OKC to make sure my app was on file and complete.

I inquired when the next update to the applications should be. The lady I spoke to said she's still working with last years applications. This year's current announcement will be reviewed and scored in a few months. She said if I don't hear anything in a few months to call and inquire.

Default ASI Check Ride

I just received a tentative job offer to be an ASI GA Ops. I haven't flown a small aircraft in about 10 years. I plan on flying to TX early to learn how to fly the Seminole. Any idea on how many hours I should plan for to get comfortable flying the Seminole and what to expect on the check ride/oral?
Thank you!

Congrats. Mine was three years ago, had another guy go through about fourteen months ago and it was the same.

They'll send you the maneuvers, speeds, profiles. The check airman will run the checklists, radios, program the GPS, if you wish. They'll give you 15 mins to 'warm up', and I would recommend taking full advantage of that.

You'll do steep turns, slow flight, stalls, Vmc demo, a couple of unusual attitudes. You'll do three or four approaches, one single-engine, an aborted takeoff - I think that's about it.

I hadn't flown a Seminole in 30 years, nor had the guy hired after me. That being said, I was doing steep turns in the sim every six months, so felt pretty prepared. The Seminole is very heavy on the elevator during steep turns, that was my only challenge. I've talked to those that went down and paid All ATP's $800, and have heard everything from 'it helped' to 'I still failed'.

Best of luck. Feel free to PM me if you have specific questions.

Default ASI for Dispatch - UPS CMO

I was recently hired into the UPS CMO to be the Dispatch ASI. I start October 30th. Just wondering what to expect over the first year and completing all my OJT items and OKC visits. Was also told when I interviewed in DEN that I would have a chance to negotiate my pay and other onboard perks like potentially relocation costs. But it looks like they are just saying I am starting as GS 12 step 1. Not sure if there was supposed to be an opportunity that I missed to negotiate something better?? I know the Dispatch ASI's are very few overall but is there anyone on here that knows anything specific about it? Or maybe know someone I can contact? I am very excited to get started and see all the various things I'll work with and be assigned... Is GS-13 a realistic expectation after 1-2 yrs? And further along, how bout GS 14 options?
