^^^1 & 2. Initial (new hire) ASI requires a medical. However Many positions in Staff HQ, Regional Offices and Air Carrier Field Offices (CMO) do not require a medical. ASAP Program Mgr, APM, AAPM positions do not require a medical.

3 Unknown, call the offices and ask about staffing.

4. Your entire career, you will visit OKC at least 1-3 times a year, for 1-3 weeks. First year is typically a few months in office (OJT) then 1 month OKC for initial string #1 then a break (back in office) and finally string #2 which is about 6 weeks long.

I'd add that at least right now OKC is coming much quicker in many cases. I went after just 3 weeks on the job and much of my class was the same. 1st stint almost 7 weeks, then 1 week TAA, then another 6 weeks, then one week. Add to that AFW for flight qual. and it's an interesting and busy first year. Oh yeah, 200 OJT items to do three times each in between OKC & AFW!

I'll be hopefully applying this weekend after my MEI ride. How long is the average wait for a call back or a status update?

I'm figuring a month or two before I here anything. I'm thinking that if everything went perfect I'd be stepping into the office sometime next Spring.

Everything with the hiring process fluctuates immensely. I applied in August 2016 and got initial callback for panel interview in January 2017, references were called by the end of March, got TOL beginning of April, Fingerprint/drug testing done immediately after accepting TOL, Checkride taken mid May, FOL within a week after, Officially started beginning of July......this was considered to be pretty fast btw, depends on your flexibility.

Was that selecting any location or waiting on one specific locality?

Any location in the U.S. HOWEVER, when they do call you for a panel interview they will ask you for your top 3 regardless of your flexibility. This was my experience anyway. If you don't hear back for a month or two after your intial interview give HR a call and let them know you'd like to pick different locations. Be proactive.

I see. Well hopefully everything works out that I don't have to wait 10 years for my requested location.

You probably know this already if you went back through the thread but if your flexible and really want the job you have a better chance of just getting into any location that's hiring then relocating after your first year. Getting in is the hardest part. Good luck!

Thanks! Submitted the application this afternoon. Crossing my fingers I hear something before I have grand children!
