About what I expected. First year is a little tough adjusting to government work, gone for months, more OJT than you can possibly finish. A lot of good co-workers and some not so good, like anywhere else. Just do your best to avoid the bad ones. Focusing on the light at the end for better schedule, pay, and location. All in all I don't regret it.

On a side note, I saw that the ERR topic popped up and was hoping a couple of the veterans in the gig could answer a couple questions:
Is it possible to get an ERR approved without being a 13?
In order to put in an ERR does the location have to be one that is listed on UsaJobs or can it just be for any location that you want?

You can put in an ERR to anywhere. You would have better chance as GS13 but there is no requirement as long as the office is looking for the grade you are currently (assuming GS12). Not possible to ERR to a higher grade (cannot get a promotion). You can however ERR to a LOWER grade (13to 12) or (12 to 11) but I would not recommend doing that unless the situation is dire. Read the contract, there is an article on ERR’s. Good luck!
