Want to leave but don't know how.

Looking to get out.
I concede that, though it makes no sense to me, there are people out there who knowingly, and with sound mind, are willing to throw to the wind everything else in their life to make aviation paramount. The committed stare into the abyss with eyes glazed to the glow of the glass flight deck and blinded to the opportunity cost. Their quest ever advancing in spite of contrary evidence and clinging to whatever accomplishments they may find as justification for their sacrifice.
Those who visit this part of the forum however are "looking to get out". It puzzles me when others come on here in opposition in order to justify (mostly to themselves I guess) why they stay in. If one does not care where, how, or who they live with then by all means stay the course. You don't need my permission. Give in to your addiction. If you are so willing to throw every other aspect of your life into the fickle hands of aviation then submit full scale and go with my blessing. Others here however have lives to live and goals to achieve. Why not leave us at peace?
By your own admission the career demands a lot and offers few assurances. Your passion would be better served to wave the flag for those who are eager to get into queue for the grist mill than trying to justify your choices to me here.

I quit 135 flying last September for the opportunity to be a controller from the February '14 bid. I was excited for the pay and benefits, but that's really all the job offers. Government jobs are cushy, but I feel like I'm getting my personality sucked out of me and don't enjoy the work and shifts. I really miss the flying, new places, time off, and experiences... you won't get any of that in a government job. I'm actually thinking about resigning already to go back to flying with an offer to do 135 in a Falcon 50.
I read that most people here quit because of the pay and quality of life, and most are coming from 121 regionals. I avoided regionals on purpose because of the low pay, and wouldn't last either as a regional pilot. I don't think the 135 pay is that bad, for me the offer is 45k plus day per diem with a schedule... thinking about leaving ATC to pursue the flight dream again. For me, there's nothing better, and I could make captain in 2 years. Wondering why more people don't go the 135 route for better pay and more exciting flying? Also, any advice on leaving ATC, good or bad, appreciated...trying to be persuaded it's a bad idea to leave but oh how I miss some parts of flying.

If you really want to quit, I'd stick it out just to get your CPC though, because then you can always come back at any age (they occasionally put out notices for former FPL's), whereas if you weren't a CPC you'd still have to be under age 30 and go through the normal hiring process again. Just gives you some more flexibility.
