I'm glad from upon your pedestal of clean living you can cast your judgement. Everyone has their own demons, even you!!! Halye had his demons, but was a top shelf guy!!!!

I sure hope nobody close to you ever suffers from addiction. Just remember, it can happen to anyone. I personally know someone that died of a heroin overdose. I was shocked to find out she used that stuff. Maybe you should read up on it if you're understanding is limited before you pipe up.

For those that do want more info on addiction check out the HIMS website. They ( addiction specialist) estimate that 10% of people suffer from addiction. That might not seem like alot, but that is basically 1 in 10 people. Tell me someone that doesn't know at least 10 people, or have over 10 family memebers. So you have probably had a friend, colleague or family member that has suffered from this disease. Also if you have kids it would be good to educate yourself as well because percentages say that your kids, or one of their friends they know in school will suffer from this disease.

I took a hard look down the abyss of opioid addiction after using prescribed pain medication following surgery for a very, very brief time. I never stuck a needle in my arm, I never snorted anything, and I never rolled anything but yet still flirted with an opiate using lawfully prescribed medication as a medical necessity. I was shocked at how quickly my body needed that drug after even very limited use. Be very, very careful casting the first stones.

These nasty drugs are all over the place and this profession isn't immune. Hospital staff have a major issue with these drugs. This is another case of it can happen to ANYONE! If you don't think it can happen to you go watch the 30 for 30 on Chris Herren. Very said! RIP!

Very very tragic- pray for their family at the least, and reach out to help if you can.

Thank you for posting something positive in the midst of a terrible tragedy for the children.

I expect that SPA MEC will post in the near future how to help for anyone interested.

I don't know how that would change anything. This could be my own brother and I'd still feel the same. This may sound a little simplistic, yet serious question: if you simply refuse to"partake", how will you ever get this "addiction" disease? Listen, my intent is not to trash this guy. Maybe it's a little "to soon". I didn't know the guy but I'm sure he was a good dude. I probably could work on my understanding a little better yet matters that involve kids are very sensitive to me. The idea of two parents shooting up in the bedroom with kids outside is just to unbelievable to comprehend.

May they rest in peace.

Once again you are battling with your own demon, self righteousness and egotism, your demons are clouding your own judgment as you pontificate. You are correct, you do not know him, and do not know that this is way out of character for Brian.

Enjoy your life of zero temptations as you live in your bubble

This right here! If you've never seen it happen, it's hard to believe. The legal opioids being used today are being handed out like candy and they're extremely addictive. Like has been said, do a little research and talk to your HIMS folks about it...it's pretty eye opening. People need to know they won't necessarily lose their job if they come forward and get help. Our HIMS program has put more than a few guys back to work after seeking help. I'm just glad they realized it before it was too late.

A good friend of mind is a life flight pilot, and he says it's a freaking epidemic. Lots of dead teens, and the middle to upper class are not immune.

If you have kids and they get prescribed pain meds, watch them closely!

Murder/suicide perhaps?

While none of it makes sense, that might make (more) sense than any other horrific possibilities.
