Default A320 SIC Time vs. TurboProp PIC Time?

I was wondering how Pilot A (5000tt; 3000 as A320 SIC) would stack up against Pilot B (5000tt; 2000 as CRJ SIC, 1000 as CRJ PIC), and Pilot C (4500tt; 1500 as TurboProp SIC, 1000 as TurboProp PIC).

These are some options I have before me. I want to get on at the Majors (AA, DL, NWA, UA, etc...) as quick as possible. How will these carriers hiring boards judge these times three years from now?

Does Delta still require 1000 turbine PIC? Makes no difference, turbine PIC beats ANY SIC anyday. You won't even get a look at most places without atleast 1500-2000 turbine PIC. This of course could all change with the 2007 hiring boom .

IMHO all three have a chance.

It comes down to two things........WHO YOU KNOW and TIMING.

Trying to get a job at a Major without knowing someone is very difficult, not impossible but very difficult.

Another thing, once you have an interview your time does not mean a thing. It is all about selling yourself to that airline at that point.

Good luck and I hope this helps.

What he said. The only way PIC time will get you in is if you have no contacts. Look at CAL/DAL. They are both publishing min reqs without any pic time, and many people have been hired at CAL lately without any PIC time. All because they have connections and internal letter of rec.

Here's CAL's minimums
Minimums:
ATPw
1,500 fixed-wing TT
1,000 fw PIC, or 500 PIC and 500 SIC in turbojet
1,000 fw turbine
1,000 fw ME or
1,000 SE military fighter jet
First class medical
Bachelor's degree ("highly desired")

Not sure how you can get hired without PIC when it states you need at least 500 PIC of turbojet.

It says or, not AND...Its 1000 hrs of PIC time...doesn' say turbine PIC. So you could instruct have 1000 hrs of PIC in a 172, get hired at a regional, fly 1000 right seat in the jet and you would meet those mins

I agree. It's easy to get twisted in the legalese.
