Will majors hire from LCCs or regionals more?
Will the majors suck away pilots from the LCCs or the regionals first over the next few years?

Regionals. There are a lot more regional pilots than LCC pilots.

Probably regionals, solely because there are more lifers at LCC's

Baffles me in regards to competition.
Every other business seems to be cutthroat in regards to competition and hiring key talent working for them. The knuckleheads running the airlines decide to hire from the own system base, their regionals. If I was Doug Parker for instance, I'd chit can the flow thru program and offer interview invites to every Spirit pilot without an armed robbery conviction. Once I'd cleared the list of legit problem children, I'd offer indoc class dates to something like 500-600 of their Captains on 30 June and take 6-9 months to complete the rest of their training. Money spent awaiting Sims is money well spent. Your competition Doug? They've just been euthanized. Let Delta and UAL do the same to Frontier. JetBlue and the rest. Reducing hiring from the regional partners will be offset by the increased flying by destroying your competitors. |
And then Spirit hires every person at PSA, Envoy, and Piedmont who are now super bitter at American and will hold Capt in less than a year on an Airbus.

Hire enough that all that were qualified and interested would get hired over 3 or 4 years. Just a bit faster than the Regionals. Just my thoughts. You are welcome to your thoughts. |
