Does anyone know whether/how much DAL pays during new hire training? Do they provide accomodation in ATL during training? How many years does it take to hold the right seat on an international airplane?

I think that it is some where between 2500-2700 a month. No per diem, no hotel after in doc for new hires. I have heard conflicting info about the hotel arrangements.
Some new hires got 767 B Int'l out of JFK two weeks ago.

Business attire is required for your first day of Orientation class and for special events including class photos. For female trainees, business attire includes dark dresses, suits or pantsuits. Business attire for men is a dark business suit, shirt and tie. Even if you are eligible for a hotel room during Orientation, lodging will be your responsibility following the initial twelve hotel days. The New Hire Coordinator's office may be able to assist you with leads on local temporary housing. FWIW

In 2001, new hire pay was $2000/month. Paid in arears (ie. no pay until you've been there for 4-6wks. Today, you are still paid in arears, BTW). No lodging. Pay for your own uniform. Bring a good credit card!

I know this post does not add information about Delta, but from what I've seen and heard, most, if not all, airlines do about the same thing, regarding new hires. You get paid, some amount of money, after your first two weeks or a month. You've got to pay for your own hotel (or room/crashpad), meals, and uniforms. The one notable exception, I believe, is at UPS. At least in the past, they paid for all those things (except maybe meals). They put you up at their contract hotel, gave you all your clothes (including that great hat), your book bag and suitcase (a selection of 2 different overnight bags were available), and provide you transportation to and from the training center. All the above, during your initial training. After that, as usual, you're on your own. Hopefully, all the above is still true, if not, please disregard this post.

At World you are paid $1000 per month plus per diem ($2.40 /hour) and are put up in the beautiful Doubletree Hotel ATL Airport.

At CAL we got 76 hrs a month of pay at 30 an hour, plus perdiem of 44 a day and our lodging. Plus positive space to and from training on the two days off every week. I guess compared to some others we have it all right.

First 12 days of training you are provided at hotel. From there you are on your own.

Each 48 hours off or more you are entitled to positive space to and from home.

After you complete IOE you are on your normal guarantee.

I'd say there's very little you have "right" at CAL....from your first year pay, insurance, workrules, international rest facilities, etc.

On a side note, I thought our 2001 contract required the company to pay for new-hire hotels?
