Delta Hiring

Rumor mill: Delta has been hiring guys AT THE INTERVIEW.

I heard (and haven't been able to yet confirm), that an acquaintance of mine was offered employement at the end of his interview and was cleared by the medical and background checks within two days after his interview.

I have a Navy bud there. That's how it worked for him. Offered employment at the end of the day. I don't know about the time frame on the medical. Everything was based upon a successful medical/background.

What sort of medical do they do? Is it a standard first class, or more of an astronaut exam ala AMR?

Everything but the "cavity" search. I think AMR takes x-rays also. I don't believe Delta takes x-rays. They do draw blood and do the work up. It's an off site facility.

Delta has always done that.

The medical is a bit beyond a first class... it's been eliminating quite a few people actually.

What is the biggest factor that eliminates people during the 1st class plus medical?

Not true...maybe in the past few years, but not before that.

If I had to guess, high blood sugar. You should watch what you eat and drink prior to having your blood drawn. I know guys that were shot down at other companies because of blood sugar. Just a guess on my part though ...

This isn't a rumor. That's how it was done during the last hiring cycle. Day 1 you do the computer tests and the interview and if you pass you get a conditional letter of hire and go on to day 2 the physical and psych eval.
