When I was hired at my LCC/Major, we were told 3-4 years. 5.5 years later we're still FOs. When we were hired, there were 2 yr CAs. The whole upgrade thing is just mental self-pleasuring (replaced m word). Upgrade times are X years for those hired X years ago. That may or may not be the case X years from now when a newhire today gets to that same seniority level.

Well, he's got a point. Or was 9-11 the result of angry Mormons?

Watch, some uptight overtly anal nozzle of feminine hygiene product that can't understand the most basic sarcasm will now post the how/why of said situation

Airlines were taking a tanking as the economy was winding down in 2000 and 2001. 9/11 just crashed it. Still that's a one-time historic event unlikely to be repeated again in the same manner (eg, multiple commanded aircraft used as weapons at the same time). Still, writing comments about books being written by a pedophile is not germane to the topic at hand.

There's a difference between a recession and what 9-11 did to a specific industry. The airline bailouts never occurred before and haven't since -- for a reason. The same whackos who were behind 9-11 have actively been trying a repeat performance ever since.

So yeah, it could happen again in a slightly different manner and, yeah the comments are germane to a discussion about upgrade time.

What is a current person suppose to take away with this information for upgrade times? The airline industry is volatile and subject to hurt from terrorism, oil price fluctuations, and persistent unnecessary wars and regime change attempts in the Middle East.

Ask the guy that started the thread. The one too lazy to click on simple links.

Another thread suggests he's trolling, which I believe. And if so, what a great job he did here with the thread drift....
