Yes they are terrorists, yes they are awful people, and no: not all terrorists are Muslim. That being said, McVeigh or Roof are isolated crazed cases compared to a vast, well funded intricate network of radicals around the world. How many of these "white" terrorists yelled "Jesus is great" while they commited their acts? These "white" terrorists do not negate the reality of radical Islam and the unfortunate threat it poses to our profession.

One off shootings or a kook going after a federal building is a little different than a religion gunning, trying to blow up, a whole culture that exists all over the world. Ie, "western culture". The shear size of the Islamic army is what makes it effective/concerning and it's growing daliy.

By the way, keeping your head in the sand won't protect you, but it does keep you out of the way of those that defend our way of life and those that seek a better way of life. So, thank you.

While you "lost decade" guys were busy flying around getting paid ... there were thousands upon thousands of us who were furloughed post 9/11.

Then some a-hole decided it was a good idea to raise the retirement age to 65 WHILE WE WERE STILL ON THE STREET!

As a result many of the 9/11 furloughees didn't go back to their majors and are only now, in their late 40s, competing to interview with some of the companies that are hiring.

THAT is a truly LOST decade.

Mostly. I (and others) got to go through a displacement, furlough, and shutdown.

But I (and others) sucked it the eff up and went to the bottom and went backwards starting all over again somewhere else. Some considered themselves "above" that.

Many others were LUCKY enough to get hired at legacy pre 9/11 without ANY TPIC time. After 9/11 pilots without PIC we're at a severe competitive disadvantage.

Right. At the place I started over at, I got to go through my second CA displacement. Good times good times....

Jetblue as well as Frontier and others sucked up a healthy amount of USAir guys. The ACMI's were hiring, as well as NetJets. And there was always the J4J thingy.....

UAL had the pref hiring/subsidized year 1 pay at UAX carriers.

So while you were on the street, there WERE jobs out here to be had at least. It was simply a matter of what one was willing to do to stay flying.
