Once direct MATEO you're off the arrival. Get down and slow down, so long as you're 210/12k going over it, it's an easy approach. But yeah don't be afraid to dump the gear at 20 miles if you need it. Beware when it's wet and or raining. The controllers there assume you're the ultimate authority, if you ask for a heading/alt that puts you into a mountain, they'll give t to you.

AA gives Captains $6.00/hr and First Officers $4.15/hr as an international override for all flying done outside of the lower 48. I'd be interested to hear what the override is at other legacies, but I'll probably forget to ever look at this again.
