In this world, however, the hostile reaction of a certain employee group is/was a foregone conclusion.

To add context to my post, the harassment went way over any line that exists. It wasn’t just at work. It is pretty easy to figure out a Southwest crew members schedule and personal contact info from our crew management system.

Ok, I get your point. He definitely earned backlash of some kind, but apparently not to the degree to which you have alluded. Thanks for the context.
Thread drift alert. Back to jumpseat stories:
Back in my RJ days, flying an E145 which had the CDU on the center console. One day, we had a FO from another regional on our jumpseat. Nice enough guy.
We were flying the the Korry into LGA, everything nominal. Suddenly, the picture on the nav display changed. My FO and I did a WTH?, at which point our jumpseater announced he had set up the intecept course to final for us.
Uhhh, thanks? He got an on the spot debrief.
