JetBlue and those 'Other Airlines'

Continental cancels all Newark departures through noon Saturday
"Continental Airlines canceled all flights to and from Newark Liberty International Airport through noon, except for one flight, the company said in a news release. The company did not return a call seeking comment.JetBlue spokeswoman Jenny Dervin said none of her company’s flights had been canceled in Newark on Saturday. Dervin said the company canceled some flights out of JFK in New York, but that Newark flights would only see delays of 20 to 30 minutes."

100,000 US Airways passengers still stranded
"Thousands of weary travelers faced a third day waiting to reach their destinations Sunday as US Airways struggled to recover from the ice and snow storm that paralyzed airports in the Northeast. Computer problems, airline staffing rules and other problems slowed US Airways' attempts to clear the backlog. In addition, the airline's flights on Sunday were already nearly sold out with 275,000 passengers booked, the airline said."

Royal Air Maroc flight sits 14 hours at Kennedy
"Fourteen hours after boarding a flight to North Africa to take part in a 151-mile marathon across the Sahara, Jeremy Colgan completed an endurance feat of a different kind yesterday. He got off the plane, which never left Kennedy Airport. Fourteen hours after boarding a flight to North Africa to take part in a 151-mile marathon across the Sahara, Jeremy Colgan completed an endurance feat of a different kind yesterday. He got off the plane, which never left Kennedy Airport."

Alitalia flight grounded for 10 hours
"A Massapequa woman was among hundreds of passengers who sat on idle airplanes for hours at Kennedy Airport during the winter storm that ended yesterday. Sue Taliani, 54, of Massapequa, said passengers were aboard an Alitalia plane for 10 hours waiting for the aircraft to be deiced. The flight was finally canceled."

Storm strands jets; Cathay sits for nearly 10 hours
Hundreds of passengers were stranded for hours overnight on airliners that couldn't take off from John F. Kennedy International Airport because of the ice and snow storm that pummeled the Northeast. Rahul Chandran was trapped aboard a Cathay Pacific Airways jet from midnight until nearly 9:30 a.m. Saturday, when the flight to Vancouver was finally canceled.

Doesn't matter.

Looks better when that amateur airline JB does it and still mucks it all up.

Gman,

No matter how hard you try, being the media darling in NYC is a two edged sword. You loved the limelight, now endure the spotlight.

No respect for Gman

Gman...where are your "we got voted #1 by Conde Nast" posts now?? Man, I sure miss those......NOT. Ohh, wait, there arent any positive articles out there anymore since the pooch got screwed on V-day.

Funny that you NOW COMPARE your JetBlue to other airlines but before that would have been absolutely unspeakable according to you.

give it up dude....PATHETIC

There ya go:

JETBLUE NAMED ‘BEST AIRLINE VALUE’ BY ENTREPRENEUR.COM
”Is the damage (from President’s Day Weekend) permanent? Probably not. Neeleman's candor ("I'm mortified," he admitted) and swift, substantive response is already earning grudging respect from customers. BusinessWeek may have yanked JetBlue from its list of top 25 "customer service champs," but we think the airline, ever the innovator, will fly through hoops to reassure customers that its meltdown was a fluke.”

Anything else?

Gotta say Gman, I fly JB (full fare) several times a month to and from JFK. You have a good "flt ops" but that mess in JFK is horrible. I have had four or five SNAFUs with you guys, because of the personnel in JFK. But once on the aircraft, that legroom is welcome and the staff good.

Impressed with the overal help of off duty pilots helping get the plane out, after their free ride. Have to say, always a great experience out of my hometown.

And despite what Major Limeface whines about, you will have a union when you need one. Simple as that. But I doubt it will be ALPA with attitudes like his. One bad apple..........

I'm still waiting to see the innovation of the low cost carriers setting the new bar for pay.

Thank you for the kind words.

Yes lose the attitude! Jetblue like every other US airline has for the most part very professional pilots that overall do an outstanding job no better or no worse than any other US airline. Your airline like just about every other airline since the inception of the industry will ride the ups and downs of this very unstable industry. Jetblue is not immured like no other airline is either.

Airline management is out for themselves (Jetblue too), and the stock holders certainly not the employees and especially not the pilots. Jetblue pilots deserve no less than any other pilot group. Stop drinking the cool aid organize and help us take back our profession through pattern bargaining.

ALPA is going to be a different union. Our new Communications Chairman (CAL ALPA) is going to spend some time with the Jetblue pilots (flew for you guys until last year while on furlough and a subsequent leave of absence) discussing the advantages of ALPA. Even if you don't go ALPA organize for your own good, and the good of your fellow professional aviators.

My friend the G-man has nothing but the best intentions for our company and the business and has nothing but bad experiences with ALPA. You say ALPA is "going to be a different union". Well, as they say, money talks and B.S. walks. ALPA has a LOT of kissing up to do to former members before they will ever be welcome here. I don't disupute the fact that a union is most likely inevitable here. We're one of the few companies without one. A union built from within, no matter how long it takes, will be much more successful than a union for which there is so much animosity.

Still big words from someone who is at an airline that at worst is at least trying to stay fairly close to union agreements if only to try to prolong unionization.
