Why is Virgin America discussed under the Major Sub forum?

Mr Branson hides on here recruiting and wants his own sub forum, how about "Bottom Feeders with Big Planes"?

the reason VA is being discuss in here, is simple it will be a major player in the aviation industry.

I've moved the VA threads to the Upstart section.

Gotta keep the fire going A

They are going to hire new people and give them a great sign up package with low pay. Soon the sign up package will go away and the low pay will continue. Then all of the other U.S. owned and operated airlines will need to reduce thier pilot packages to compete.

It's going to happen and everone is going to selfishly get there's with no regard to further destroying the wage potential. Meanwhile back at the ranch management will be collecting money in buckets, driving the fancy cars, motoring around in the big boats and supporting pilots ex-trophy wives who have left because he doesn't make enough money and is never home when she needs him anymore. Turns out the management guy is home alot with plenty of money the pilot earned for him.

Thats my beef. Honestly has nothing to do with VA, its just the idea that right now another airline is not what we need, especially a Low Cost Low pay outfit situated in the heart of High cost of living land. If we can somehow control the flow of pilots willing to work for less we have a chance of making these companies pay up.

When I see 5th year VA captains making $183/hr with 78 hour guarentees getting 7.9% of thier W2's put into a profit sharing account I'll be standing in line bringing all of my friends. How about 2nd year FO's making 88 an hour. That's a least a living.

From what I am hearing I don't thing you'll ever see 183 on your payscale unless it has a decimile in it. $18.30 first year FO gets to fly an Airbus. Oooo Pretty Airplane.

Respectfully

I will gladly listen to arguments on any of my serious points. I am open to change.

Why do you need me, grounded? You've said it all pretty succintly.

he looks up to you...maybe he wants to be the mini me version of green face.

good point my friend

as you know, i have alway "nearly" agreed with you.

VA just might get pay and bennies to that level some day....

actually not a very bad starting point to work from however...

i remember thinking the same thing when valujet got started up....now airtran is not doing too bad???

you are for the most part correct...another LCC is not needed, however, VA is not necessarily just another LCC. They have a business model centered around the paying pax and not the guys up front.

aren't you bored and tired of the same old worn out airlines slugging it out and trying to put the other out of business??? meanwhile treating the pax like a bunch of DOGS?

VA is all about the pax in the back...something different, something new. something for the flying public for a change....

sit back and give it a chance....

if it falls on its face in one year....i give you my word, i will fedex you a gift certificate to ruth christ's steak house....(my favorite btw)...

cheers

Look on the bright side, at least 18 bucks an hour will be a pay increase for you.
