Commute from MSY
Hoping to separate from the AF in the next year or so. Initial plan is to move to the New Orleans area. If I am fortunate enough to get hired by a major, what is the easiest commute?
I know it may take me a while to hold the following locations with each major depending on equipment (I'm looking at the longer game 3+ years from now when I should be able to hold the locations), but I am curious how the commute would be from MSY to:
DFW, ATL, IAH, MEM, SDF

From ATL. During a weekday, you have 16 flights MSY-ATL on DL, WN, and NK. MSY-DFW you will have 14 on AA and WN. MSY-DFW you will have 9 on UA and WN. MSY-MEM has 0 and you will 2 leg it probably through ATL. MSY-SDF is also 0.

My guess is that ATL, DFW, or IAH will be the easiest in that order. I commute out west from ATL and constantly use MSY to get there.

IAH and HOU both have ~8 flights daily (all mainline). Jumpseat frequently to MSY and have never had an issue — except weather. UA also flies express between IAH and BTR and GPT as backups. Check the MSY airport website, gives a good feel for volume and hub connectivity. Good luck and enjoy big easy!

Thanks for the info. Yes shyguy I was referring to FedEx and UPS. Not completely sure how the seating works with them compared to the pax airlines. They are lower on my preference list only because I do not think I would be competitive for an interview with either. I have about 3600TT with over 2.5k PIC, but I only have about 150 ME.

I live in MSY. Just go with who calls first. There are lots of commuters to IAH. I commute to ORD which I always get on. Just not enough flights. But the three southern hubs of the big three are definitely easy. MIA and CLT are doable too.
