They leave hair and tampon wrappers and other bullsh!t all over the bathrooms, they're loud, they make no money so they tend to live there in lieu of paying for a permanent residence as well, and the fact that they make no money probably also has a lot to do with how much food goes "missing" when they're around. They're young, typically immature, and tend to treat the place like a sorority house or a hostel, at best. They aren't used to being under the professional scrutiny of a competitive industry like pilots are and as such, lack the decorum with which most (not all) pilots have learned to conduct themselves. It's an unskilled job that requires no education, which in itself places it in stark contrast to the lucrative career for which we have all sacrificed a lot in various ways and around which we have centered our lives and focus for decades. So in other words, we have almost nothing in common.

Only thing you left out was a statement that you no doubt heard from one of them, " If I knew pilot new hire training was only two weeks longer, I would have applied for that".
That is a no chit statement that our class hear years ago.

I'll add, not having a J.O. roommate who walks around the apt with the TV remote in his jammies with some Springer/Judge Judy crap on.
It was balanced by the humor of listening to his idiot endless cellphone conversations with his idiot wife and idiot teenage kid as he tried to solve their idiot F.U.'s from 1000 miles away. Even better was this was when the cell minutes he burned cost $400-$500/month in 1990 dollars.
Do the math.

I ran one for years. Male pilots only, everyone had there own bed, dresser drawer, and closet space so you could keep stuff there. Close to public transportation, food, and the beach. We had very low turnover.
