I must be getting it wrong, because I just don't get it.
When I'm done with my flying, and while commuting---> walking through the terminal, waiting to board, and during the flight, etc.....yes I use them. Why on earth would that be unprofessional?.
If I was on duty, with my crew, etc....I'd never do that obviously. Maybe that's what the OP meant and I misunderstood.

I use mine all the time to stay hands free when I’m on the phone, or when I’m usung an audiobook or podcast What does it matter? But lemme guess, it’s ok to be 80lbs overweight and look professional? The guys complaining probably use a cellphone holder on their belt too. Velcro black shoes?
