True. But the convenience for locals, lack of big airport stress (even though HPN has a crap terminal) and the more reasonable business class seats and airfares make it pretty compelling.

Yes there are wealthy people in Westchester County, but the median income there in 2019 was just over 42,000. The overwhelming majority everywhere in this country are normal people who will be looking for deals.

I think it has the potential to do very well in both directions - and it doesn’t have to be daily to succeed with the A220 economics.

Would love to see similar routes from ISP, HVN, BDR, PVD, MHT, PSM and even ACY - again, just a few frequencies per week could work. They all have big O&D catchment areas that are near annoyingly stressful hubs. No way Avelo can offer the same West Coast routes out of HVN with their 737-700s.

ISP to LAX/BUR/SNA/ONT could be real winners to avoid chaotic JFK.

The 737-700 has better range and performance than the -800 or -9ER. It's the best 737 for a west coast route.

The 220 isn’t going to satisfy Breezes needs. Apparently they’re already struggling to make “the numbers work” for the transcons with a full pay load, hence why the term “321XLR” is been thrown around by management. Who knows. but the 220 definitely can’t do what they thought it would.

Without long range fuel tanks (not sure how many you need) like you find on the new VIP A220, getting back from Europe might be a challenge. Who knows. Flying westbound around the states “should” work but depends on a lot of factors including loads and winds as you know. If the flights prove popular, they will need to consider loads and performance. Time will tell if it works.

Wouldn’t surprise me about the XLR talk. Neeleman operates plenty of mixed fleets at different airlines and he probably wants the flexibility.

Do you actually believe what you're saying?? 321XLR's.....lol, they haven't even figured out how to operate the 220's they have let alone something bigger. Oh and the wait for any A320 variant is locked up until at least 2027.
The 190's couldn't make money on their current routes that's why you see them start flying and a month or 2 later they pull out. Same thing is going to happen with this West coast flying, they cannot possibly make money flying these routes even with a full aircraft either way. I heard our break even factor at Spirit is around 70 pax on transcon routes.

So you know more than the guy that started a couple of airlines, national ones. But who knows how it works, rich investors keep throwing money at these ops. Didn't Virgin America or Jeblue not make money for 10 years before they turned a profit?
