might need to relocate for breeze. 🤭 Good chances if they are too cheap to pay their pilots, they are too cheap for CASS

My minimum guarantee on unemployment is 1800 a month so ya, I would be absolutely thrilled to land a job here and stop hemorrhaging cash from my savings. The options for someone in my position are as follows:

Regional
Most aren't hiring and the thought of starting over at another regional with worse pay, QOL, and long upgrade times? No thank you. On top of that, sitting reserve at a regional that I'll have to commute to sounds like a fresh new hell that I'm not prepared for.

Cargo
I'm pretty sure I applied to every single operator out there and have gotten nothing but crickets and tumbleweeds as a response. Hiring windows pop up and they get over 1000 applications in the first day so the odds are stacked against me. Oh, and with a schedule that typically has you working 17 days in a row my wife might forget who I am.

Charter
Jump into a smaller jet and deal with rich people. I'm treading water in a few pilot pools for this kind of work but they're not my first choice. Again, long upgrade times and the 8 on 6 off schedule isn't my favorite. This would be a place holder rather than something that truly advances my career.

Breeze
Sitting in a familiar cockpit with some old friends is enough for me to want this job and want it bad. Potential for quick upgrade, sitting on top of the seniority list, bringing the double wave back, and forming a snack basket committee. I meet their min requirements and they're hiring so give me one good reason why I shouldn't be eagerly anticipating a call from them like a kid on xmas morning.
wouldnt $1800/month after taxes be about the same as 1st yr FO pay? All that commuting expenses etc and you're probably better off financially staying on unemployment. Doesnt help the career tho.

Lol one is definitely NOT better off unemployed. He'll make more at Breeze and you are exactly right-- it doesn't not help the career to not be flying

I guess non-Mainline Regionals include Great Lakes.

They are hiring for a pass bureau manager, duties include negotiating interline and jumpseat agreements,so I’d imagine they will have the cockpit access security system.

Unfortunately, you still have to pay taxes on unemployment benefits.

Default Be Wery Wery Careful

I'm hunting Wabbit!

I wanted to point out that starting an airline right now is as nuts as ever. Things seem to be shifting towards the shared (NetJets/FlexJets) model. Have you seen the programs Blade and XO Jet are running? Keep a couple of things in mind, again, just discussion points. The airline business was living on borrowed time, ya know, like the Styx song! It really is a failed business and here we are again, with furloughs and possible, inevitable, bankruptcies. One minute they ask the Gubment to leave them alone then ask for bailouts and use their employees as leverage. It's really sickening honestly and I do not know for the life of me why pilot's keep doing it. That battered house wife syndrome thingy. Look at what's happening at SWA! It's really sad and Herb must be rolling over right now as is Colleen. What should have happened a long time ago is a NATIONAL strike by all airline employees. Instead, we just keep stepping over the bodies from the last catastrophe.

As far as Neelman and Fabreeze Airways goes; the model I think is flawed. The LCC thing has run it's course and another one just seems overkill. Don't forget, he's not the only one starting an airline and the other LCCs and Majors will be ruthless. I want to also point out that he has had failures too along the way. Quite a few and in fact and was kicked out of the very airline he started and SWA. He's a bit nutty if you haven't heard or read.

As far as pay and conditions go. It's what he really thinks of you. You are a cost and he's doing nothing more than taking advantage of the doom in the business. That DOES NOT make him a good leader or person. There are a lot of B6ers who fought for years for better conditions and some are still bitter. So, if you are willing to keep accepting sub par wages and conditions and making excuses for it, we will ALL never get ahead. The industry will stay the same and these forums will be kept alive as we all continue to harpoon each other. How the CEOs must laugh at us up in Wyoming every year.

Happy Holidays to all and to all a good night

Couple things:
1) wasn’t the timing of starting and growing B6 nuts too? That timing seemed to work out well for them.

2) LCC model hasn’t run its course. Quite the opposite. It’s been growing like a weed and still is. They have recovered faster and shrunk less than legacies. Legacies have been trying to compete/adapt with things like basic economy because they have to, not because they want to. This is even more true now that the front of the plane isn’t paying the bills with biz travelers. And how exactly will other LCCs/ULCCs/majors be ruthless? Can’t exactly be ruthless when you’re paying to service massive amounts of debt, higher labor costs, and higher capital/lease costs. Breeze would welcome “ruthless” competition. That would accelerate bankruptcies. Breeze’s CASM will be lower than allegiant and frontier. Their break even load factor will be lower than anyone’s. They can turn a profit while others would be in the red. They also won’t be competing on any/many routes. Their route structure will be designed to minimize nonstop competition.

But yeah, pilot pay will suck. For a while. Generally that is a trade off for early seniority. Thousands have apps in knowing the rates. What’s old is new again.
