Bump for another question. Lately I've been flying with lots of people who've had shoulder issues. Do you think that rolling these bags around all day is bad on our shoulders? I hate hate hate the idea of spinners, but I'm considering dealing with it if it saves my shoulders. Anyone switch to a spinner because of this and feel better?

I doubt it. I jacked up my shoulder pretty bad 2 years ago in a skiing fall. The key to recovery has been working out with weights (after a steroid shot to the injured area). I’ve never been bothered by pulling the bag. I submit that the key to preventing shoulder injuries is working out (safely, skip the pec dec or at least be careful). Pulling the bag and carrying it just becomes another workout for you rather than a source of pain.

And to the OP, I switched from LW to a Strongbag and love it. It’s more sleek, slightly lighter and more incognito.

The number of people I see with stuff on top of their bags (forcing them to carry the weight) versus hooking into the bag to balance it so zero effort is required astonishes me.

The only advantage I see to carrying bags on top of the rollerboard is ease of navigating escalators. I've practiced enough to where I'm pretty good with the cooler on the hook, but all it takes is one bad trip down a moving stair death machine...

This.....guys that carry a backpack (too long to hang on the hook) have a lot of weight they’re carrying asymmetrically as they pull their bag/backpack on top of it with 1 hand or the other. A backpack with integrated hook that enables it to ride on the hook is what’s needed...I’m surprised some manufacturer hasn’t figured that out.

I'd be willing to bet the shoulder issues come from slinging their flight case into and out of the cockpit. I've seen people throw bags around in really awkward positions; it's just asking for a rotator cuff issue.

Also, most guys probably hardly ever work out and/or stretch.

BTDT. I use two hands now. But I modified my strength regime to include some cable flys for the rotators.

Main thing is use two hands and avoid awkward angles.
