Airline Fees on the Rise; Thoughts?

JetBlue goes to $30 per checked bag. Can Americans afford it?

Check out our new article and let us know what you think about the future of airline travel.

How do airline fees affect pilots?

Well if the airlines can't make money, they need to increase revenue. Any increase in prices will cause some pax to not fly, there's a lot of discretionary travel at the bottom end, and any little change in the economics will cause movement one way or another.

Airlines have learned the hard way that flying more pax, at a loss, is not a win.

They don't really.

People grumble... some dorky senator or representative will demand an investigation which will lead nowhere except more money wasted in DC.

Then life returns to normal.

Straight into a profit sharing check ....

OMG!

People demand and expect the very best trained pilots, operating well maintained examples of the latest technology in perfect safety.....

But they want it for less than the cost of a bus ticket. Less than 1/5th the price of gas to drive a car the same distance!!

People are idiots

jcountry,

My car gets 30mpg, so a drive to the West Coast from BOS would cost about a 100 gallons or $327 at my local price. Are you saying tickets BOS-LAX coach are up to $1635 one-way?

I think airlines will do just fine, people aren't entitled to travel by air.

As all my math teachers would say: Show your work.
Hint: you used the wrong operation.

And don’t forget two nights in hotels and three days of fast food drive through. Plus the kidney stone you developed because you wanted to make “good time”. :D

If you’re driving straight through, subtract the hotels but add in an adderall prescription of some money for coke.
