Wonder if you could make a go with a main deck cargo / upper deck pax combi?

Combi certification in the future is pretty much non existent, it’s been made clear by the FAA it wouldn’t happen.

Interesting. Why? Fire suppression issues?

IIRC the main differences between the cargo and pax versions were a slightly lowered upper deck, where the carbon fiber was replaced with aluminum, and a steerable aft main body gear.
The hangar is a fact.
As far I know the steerable aft main body gear, a la 777, is a standard feature for the A380 on all current & previously proposed models. I'm almost certain I had seen pictures of pavement tests(towing etc.) they had conducted during testing, with the aft main gear steering disabled and it did noticeable damage to the pavement/tarmac.

Would be my guess, I recall when BA still had theirs they needed to use fire blankets over the M1’s in the 90’s but don’t recall KL using them.

Military troop carriers need to be able to land at most airports in the world.

Well, guess that crosses off the Guppy too!

Has the 380 ever been given a snarky nickname? I’ve got one in mind if it hasn’t, Whitey (the elephant).

Dugong (QF, it’s a sub species of manatee)

The Vagina (BA, ugly on the outside, nice once inside)
